Tap

Tap is one of the most fun, dance skills, and should be learnt by all dancers. It is the understanding and execution of rhythm and natural isolations to a variety of music, through foot beats.

It has recently begun a popular revival. Modern day influences include Irish Dance (Riverdance) and Australian Tap (Tap Dogs, Hot Shoe Shuffle), as well as the recognised brilliance of American Tap which has developed from the days of Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Ginger Rogers and Judy Garland. Pioneers recognised by  tap dancers today include: Sammy Davis Junior and Gregory Hines.

Tap is taught under the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD)   syllabus, with examinations in The Imperial Society and The Anglo-Russe International Stage Dancing Association.

Classes also include freestyle tap and various teaching styles and influences to maintain a modern, vibrant approach to this skill.
